SANGUEM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar assured mining-dependent people of all benefits from income generated by the State government on the e-auction of ore.
Parrikar also assured to further reduce the prices of petrol in the State if the dollar prices against rupee come down in the near future.
Parrikar was speaking at a public meeting organised at Sanguem to campaign for BJP’s South Goa Lok Sabha candidate Adv Narendra Savaikar on Wednesday.
“BJP government will not allow any mining dependent person to come on the street,” stated Parrikar and assured to look into all their problems including that of garage owners, tyre puncture shops, roadside eateries etc.
“Ninety per cent of the revenue generated by the State government from e-auction of ore will be used for the benefit of mining-dependent people,” he said.
Blaming Congress for the mess created in the mining industry and for subsequent ban on mining activities in the State, Parrikar said mining activities in the State will not commence till the Environment Clearance certificates are in order. The only solace for immediate resumption of mining activities in the State is Narendra Modi coming to power. He said Modi understands the pulse of the people better than the Congress government.
Commenting on Vijay Sardessai’s remarks on BJP government and its MLAs, Parrikar said: “The derogatory remarks made by Sardessai against a minister in the BJP government needs to be immediately withdrawn by Sardessai, failing which a criminal complaint will be lodged against him soon after the elections.”
Industries Ministries Mahadev Naik termed Sardessai to be a rank middleman in the Congress camp. “It is solely on account of the role played by Sardessai that Reginaldo succeeded in getting the Congress ticket,” he said.
Sawaikar termed the Congress ministers to be tainted with corruption with large number of them having been embroiled in corruption cases during their tenure as Lok Sabha members.
Allaying fears expressed by a section of the society that BJP is communal, Sawaikar said: “If BJP was communal, then the schemes devised by the BJP government would not have been passed to the beneficiaries from the minority community.”
Sanguem Municipal Council Chairperson Agnelo F G da Costa, Nuvem MLA Mickky Pacheco, Sanguem MLA Subhash Phaldessai and Sanguem Block BJP President Manoday Phadte also spoke.
