PANJIM: The month-long Goa Legislative Assembly session that is set to begin today, will conclude on August 21 with 18 working days. The concept of paperless session will be introduced this time with all questions and answers exchanged through e-mail. However, this session will see paper copies too just as a back up.
Officials have promised to upload the answers immediately on the website. The sessions will begin at 11.30 am and conclude at 6 pm.
A total of 2,600 questions have been received so far with last date for submitting being July 25. Of these 1,400 are unstarred questions while 1,200 are starred.
Each MLA has been restricted to ask 18 questions per day of which 15 are unstarred and three starred.
So far, BJP MLA Vishnu Wagh and Independent MLA Rohan Khaunte top the list with maximum 162 questions, beating Reginaldo Lourenco who topped the list when Speaker Rajendra Arlekar addressed the press.
Close behind him are independent MLA Naresh Sawal with 152 questions, Congress MLA Aleixo Lourenco Reginaldo with 151 questions and Independent MLA Vijai Sardessai with 147.
The session will have general discussion on Budget 2014-15 beginning from the first day itself, followed by discussion on demand for grant
The important bills likely to be tabled include amendment to the Panchayati Raj Act, Municipality Act and the Goa Police Bill.
Mining policy which would determine the grant of mining leases would also be tabled and the chief minister has promised to determine a “way forward for loans.”
