TIVIM: Some inward-outward books and files linked to mining have been reported stolen from the Nadora panchayat.
According to Mapusa police, the Nadora Sarpanch Kamlakar Gawas filed a police complaint stating that an unknown person stole files and books from the panchayat office sometime prior to December 15, 2013.
When contacted, the Inquiry Officer PSI SL Hansakutti stated that the offence had been registered under Section 380 IPC.
“The Nadora sarpanch had submitted an application on December 15, 2013, but with no details on the missing files. On Friday, he provided the details of the inward-outward books and files of mining correspondence, which have been reported missing from the panchayat premises. Hence, a case was registered,” said PSI Hansakutti.
“The files pertaining to the mining correspondence as well as the books pertained to the year 2002 to 2004,” PSI Hansakutti added, thereby indicating that there could be foul play in the disappearance of books and files, as both sets of documents pertained to a specific period.
When contacted, the local MLA Kiran Kandolkar said he was unaware of the incident.
“I am unaware of the incident, but I shall find out and enquire into the matter,” he said.
Despite repeated efforts, Nadora Sarpanch Kamlakar Gawas could not be contacted to comment in the matter.
