PANJIM: After former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, some former and present Mines Department officials and several others, the SIT will now quiz ex-CM Ravi Naik’s son Roy in the multi-crore mining scam.
SIT SP Kartik Kashyap said that Roy has been summoned to appear for questioning at 11am on February 9. The summons was served through Ponda police station.
While details of his involvement have not been discussed, sources said Naik is one of the lease holders against whom action was allegedly sought.
“He is called for questioning in the main mining case,” the officer said. As many as 187 mining leases are under investigation as part of the main probe in the mining scam.
In 2012, a local activist had lodged a police complaint seeking action against 151 persons, including Naik, for corruption and loss to the State exchequer due to illegal mining. The then government had formed the SIT to exclusively probe all mining related offences. While some fresh cases were lodged, others which were lodged at different police stations were transferred to SIT.
