PANJIM: The health condition of Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar, who underwent surgery for a brain stroke in Mumbai, remains the same, with a panel of doctors monitoring him round the clock.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane who went to Mumbai on learning of the stroke, and is camping there, said, “I visited Madkaikar who is undergoing treatment for a brain stroke,” adding that he has been monitoring his health condition along with the panel of doctors from Goa Medical College and Hospital, who have been flown there. “I am praying for his speedy recovery and good health,” he said.
Madkaikar was in Mumbai when he suffered the brain stroke. His family members have also gone to the metro.
Though there is no medical bulletin issued by the hospital, doctors have said that the minister would be under observation for 72 hours from Tuesday.
Sources stated that Madkaikar suffered a stroke in a five-star hotel in Mumbai where he had checked in. “The minister had ordered food and when waiters came to deliver it at his room, he did not open the door,” sources stated.
The hotel reception then called him on the intercom but to no avail. The door was later opened with a duplicate key only to find him unconscious on the bed.
He was immediately shifted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital, where the surgery was performed and where he is currently being treated.
