PORVORIM: Two crimes against women have been reported in Bardez, with a minor girl accusing three persons of kidnapping and raping her at an isolated place on June 28 and police arresting a youth from Nanoda-Bicholim on charges molesting a 22-year-old woman from Sirsaim.
In the first case, Mapusa Police said the minor girl had complained that the driver and two occupants wearing masks abducted her in a van while she was waiting for a bus at Moira. The victim stated that the accused confined her in the van, took her to isolated place and gagged her mouth, before raping her.
Police is not sure why she filed a police complaint nearly five days after the incident.
Reliable sources told Herald that the girl’s parents had gone out to work in the morning on June 28, when the girl locked the door and went out of the house. When her mother returned home at 10.30 am, she found the door locked and contacted her daughter on her mobile phone.
Sources added that the girl is reported to have informed her mother that she had gone out and that she would return soon. When her mother phoned her again in the afternoon, the girl said she was in Mapusa. As the girl did not return till 7.30 pm, the mother lodged a missing complaint with the police.
In meanwhile, police happened to locate the girl moving in the city and sent her to Apna Ghar. The girl then filed a complaint on Wednesday stating that she had been kidnapped and raped on June 28, sources added.
Police later sent the girl to GMC for a medical checkup, but have not disclosed the details of the report. Police has registered the case under Sections 363, 342, 341, 354, 509, 376 r/w 34 IPC Section 8 of Goa Children Act 2003 and Section 4 of Protection of Children’s from Sexual Offences Act 2012. In the second case, Mapusa Police arrested a youth from Nanoda-Bicholim on charges of molesting a 22-year-old woman from Sirsaim.
According to Police, the victim filed a complaint stating that she was proceeding towards the Tivim Railway Station, when the accused, Rupesh Vazarker, grabbed her and tried to push her into his car (GA-04-3279). Police informed that the woman managed to escape.
Later, she filed a police complaint.
The victim stated that the accused used to send her lewd SMSes.
Police arrested Vazarkar in this connection and he will be produced before the Mapusa Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) on Friday. ASI Vittu Naik is investigating the case.
