Miraculous Cross feast celebrated at Karwar

More than 1,500 devotees from Goa and other neighbouring states travel to Karnataka for this feast every year

KARWAR: The feast of the Miraculous Cross was celebrated with great fervour at Bethlehem Society, Bharne-Karwar on Monday. Nearly 1,500 devotees from Goa, Karwar and surrounding areas took part in the celebrations.
Fr Maxey D’Costa was the main celebrant for the high mass. In his homily, Fr Salvador Gomes Coutinho stressed on the life of Jesus Christ and urged people to embrace his teachings. He also requested people to carry their daily crosses of life with love and patience, say the Rosary and attend mass. 
Fr Salvador added, “We are called to the cross to gain wisdom and understand the power of forgiveness and mercy.”
The Miraculous Cross feast also coincides with the feast of Rosa Mystica.
The feast mass was followed by a procession that wound its way in the locality before returning to the church.
