PONDA: A Mardol real-estate developer, Gopal Naik, who was reported missing on Sunday by his wife, was found at Anmod ghat by Ponda police, on Monday late evening.
Police said that Naik had contacted them with the help of some locals that he has been dropped by his abductors at Anmod ghat and that they immediately rushed to the spot and took him into their custody and brought him to Ponda.
Naik reportedly told the police that he was abducted from his real-estate site at Mardol on Sunday at around 11.30 am by four unidentified persons. He was taken to Belgaum in a Duster vehicle, where he was stripped of his pants and manhandled. He was later dropped at Anmod ghat by his abductors.
On reaching Ponda, Naik complained of abdominal pain, as such, he was taken to Ponda Sub-district Hospital and then to GMC.
Police had traced some call details on his phone and also questioned some locals as a part of their investigation. Ponda police have registed a case of abduction against unknown persons. Ponda PI Sudesh Naik is conducting the investigation.
