MARGAO: The six-year-old girl, who had gone missing on Sunday, has been found dead in mysterious circumstances behind the Cuncolim Industrial estate at Belatemb-Cuncolim on Wednesday.
Her body was found lying around 200 meters from her house in a highly decomposed state. Police suspect that the minor has been murdered and the body has been preserved at Hospicio Hospital, Margao morgue for post-mortem.
Margao Sub-divisional police officer, DySP Mohan Naik who visited the site, where the body was recovered on Wednesday at 3 pm said that the manner in which body has been found raises suspicion of murder. It may be recalled that upon a complaint, the Cuncolim police on Sunday April 27 had registered a case of kidnapping against unknown persons. According to information the minor who belongs to labour class is said to have been playing with friends on Sunday April 27 evening till late night but later she could not be found even though search was conducted by her family members. On Wednesday, police received call from anonymous person that a girl’s body was found lying behind Cuncolim industrial estate that is barely 200 meters from the victim’s house. The Cuncolim police have registered offence under sections 365 IPC and section 8 of Goa Children Act, 2003 and are awaiting post-mortem report. Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Tukaram Chawan.
