PANJIM: Missing files became an issue during a discussion on pending payments of contractors at the Corporation of the City Panaji meeting held Friday.
Bills, right from 2006 have not been paid by the CCP amounting to Rs 7 crore 23 lakh-odd.
However, this is not the final amount as there are other ongoing works and bills have not been submitted.
The meeting also discussed that 16 bills from 2006 to 2009 amounting to around Rs 49 lakh were being cleared. “We will be clearing only the bills for the years 2006 to 2009. There are some 16 of them. Once we clear this then we can take up the others,” commissioner Sanjit Rodrigues told assembled councillors. The total bills that have been taken up were Rs 7.34 lakh and also work to the tune of Rs 5.34 lakh was done with the funds of around Rs 5 crore being from the jubilee fund.
During these discussions there was an allegation made by councillor Rudresh Chodankar that certain files were missing. He wanted to know what was being done while the discussion of payments of pending contractor’s bill was being taken up, as contractors had already spent the money for the work.
Then the councillors wanted to know how records were being maintained. The commissioner replied that once a book was being maintained about the works tendered and bills submitted.
