PANJIM: Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral has accused two persons from Assolda-Quepem of abusing and attempting to assault him at Zambaulim-Rivona.
In his complaint, MLA Cabral told Quepem police that the two accused, along with six other associates, formed an unlawful assembly and wrongfully restrained his vehicle at Zambaulim-Rivona on Tuesday at about 10.30 pm.
Cabral further stated that the accused had come with the common intention to abuse and to assault him, amid allegations that money was being distributed to influence the voters of Xeldem ZP constituency.
Speaking to Herald, Cabral said he along with two others had gone to Zambaulim for Gulal as usual. “On reaching Zambaulim, they intercepted and put their car across my car and started abusing us,” said Cabral.
“After coming out from the temple, we found that they came with police from Quepem and started searching my vehicle, in which they could not find anything. But they started abusing and threatening us in front of the police,” stated Cabral.
Hawaldar Manohar Naik is investigating the case under the supervision of PI Pravin Gauns.
