MARGAO: Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco in a letter to Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane and Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) vice chairman Joshua D’Souza has requested that the Curtorim Primary Health Centre be upgraded through corporation.
“I have been following up this important matter of upgrading the Curtorim Primary Health Centre in the Goa Assembly. Even our Health Minister, Vishwajit P Rane during the last year’s (2019) Monsoon Session had assured me in the House on the upgradation of Primary Health Centre but till today no concrete steps have been taken by the concerned authorities” he reminded.
Reginaldo informed that the Curtorim Primary Health Centre is an important health centre in Salcete taluka. It encompasses an area of around 5000 sq mts and caters daily to 60-90 patients from Curtorim, Macasana, Chandor, Sao Jose de Areal, Guirdolim, and Davorlim.
“For the past few years this health centre is in a neglected state and has suffered on both the fronts namely maintenance and development, which has resulted in denial of basic medical and health service Kuddtorkars (people of Curtorim) and surrounding villages,” he said.
“To ease the travails of the lockdown, which has come into effect in the wake of global pandemic coronavirus (COVID-19) our State government headed by you has already given green signal for commencement of construction activities for State-related works, the MLA said.
Reginaldo requested to immediately start the work to upgrade the Curtorim Primary Health Centre through Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation as it will provide relief to those dependent on it.
