VASCO: The completion of the new parallel Zuari Bridge may be delayed by another six months due to non-availability of material, workforce, skilled workers and experts from other countries, who were supposed to work on the project on account of the COVID-19 lockdown .
Dilip Buildcon Limited (DBL) officials claim that the completion of the bridge may drag to another six months and added that at this point they cannot comment on the bridge completion date due to COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown.

Speaking to the Herald, Atul Joshi, Vice president of DBL structures, said, “Before the coronavirus pandemic we were well on target to complete the bridge work by December 2020, but due to CoVID-19 pandemic the workforce (labourers) as well as skilled persons, experts from China and France, the material required for the bridge construction etc, is not coming. And there is also no clarity on when it will come. Therefore as of now we cannot comment on any completion date unless we get any clarity on certain matters.”
Joshi said, “The bridge work has resumed recently and it is going on at a slow pace as we are short of manpower and material. We have to manage the work with half the manpower and there is no clarity on when we will get the material from abroad due to lockdown.”
Joshi expects the bridge work to be delayed by at least six more months.
It may be recalled that recently PWD minister Deepak Pauskar had informed a section of the media that the new parallel Zuari bridge is likely to complete in the first half of 2021.
