MARGAO: Congress MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco threatened to lead an agitation at the Nuvem junction if the authorities fail to install signboards and streetlights within a month.
He said that he has already written to the Collector and Transport Minister regarding the same.
The Congress MLA pointed out that there are no signboards at the Nuvem junction near the two-wheeler showroom, which is causing a lot of problems to motorists. Besides, he said the absence of streetlights is causing severe hardships to commuters at night.
“The police have been displaying a discriminatory attitude as they ask most motorists to take the bypass to the left of the junction and at the same time allow some VIPs and even advocates to use the old national highway,” he alleged and demanded an end to such discrimination.
The Congress’ Curtorim MLA said the situation at the junction is just crying for an accident and wondered whether the authorities will act only after a calamity strikes.
