MARGAO: Welcoming Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant’s statement to find a solution to the Madgaum Urban Co-operative Bank Ltd problem, Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco on Saturday urged him to speak to the Reserve Bank of India, which is scheduled to meet on February 21, to decide on the matter.
The MLA said he has personally been following up the matter with the Reserve Bank of India and had even addressed letters to it regarding sections of the Banking Regulation Act and also liquidation of the bank.
He said a large number of poor people from Curtorim have deposited their savings in the bank’s branch in the village and added that ‘they are facing hardships to withdraw the amount now.’
