MLA urges PM to release Fr Swamy

MARGAO: Curtorim Congress MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco has made a prayerful appeal to the Prime Minister and Home Minister of India to consider the immediate release of Fr Stan Swamy SJ, 83-year-old Jesuit priest from Jamshedpur Province.

Fr Swamy was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on the night of October 8, in a case related to the incident of Bhima-Koregaon Village of Pune District, Maharashtra in 2018. After his arrest, immediately Fr Swamy was taken to Mumbai and is currently in the Judicial Custody till October 23.

“Fr Swamy has himself clarified that he has never been to Bhima-Koregaon and has been cooperating all through with the investigating agencies,” pointed out Reginaldo.

“I would like to inform your good self that Fr Swamy suffers from old age-related ailments,” informed Reginaldo and requested to release Fr Swamy immediately.
