The chairperson had informed that the pre-monsoon work has started in the wards and would be completed before the monsoon.

Unfortunately, the basic work of maintaining cleanliness and clearing of waste residue which is dumped in the bins at various spots in all the wards seems to have been forgotten.

The Headland Sada area depicted the picture with most of the bins overflowing with garbage waste on the roads. The stray dogs, rodents, stray cattle etc are feasting on this waste which further creates problems of multiplying of their numbers, obstructing of roads, accidents etc.

It is also important to understand that the monsoon season is fast approaching. A week ago, Vasco witnessed rain showers, but the local governing body seems to be in a relaxed mode and has not placed its attention in cleaning up the garbage bins from the municipal areas. The black spots are also filled with the garbage and other waste.

An effort were made to contact MMC Chairperson Nandadeep Raut to know what steps the council would like to take to resolve the garbage menace, but was unavailable for the comments.
