MMC chairperson, PSI in war of words

The first Citizen of Margao, Savio Coutinho and a PSI attached to Margao police station were engaged at war of words at the Margao police station on late Thursday evening.
Incidentally, PSI Dattaguru Sawant later lodged a complaint against Coutinho for hurling abuses at him and issuing threats.
On the other hand, the Margao Municipal Chairperson approached the Superintendent of Police, South Allan De Sa complaining that he was abused by PSI Dattaguru in the presence a TV channel cameraman. Dattaguru was immediately summoned by the SP, South, wherein the matter was discussed in the presence of the Chairperson.
The incident is believed to have occurred when Coutinho made his presence felt at the Margao police station after the police arrested the accused involved in the kidnapping and molestation of minor girls.
Coutinho maintained that he had gone to the police station as one of the victim girl was from his ward. Eyewitnesses said the both Coutinho and the PSI were involved in heated exchanges, before the PSI reminded the Chairperson that he was standing at the police station.
According to sources, the PSI and Coutinho reached an amicable settlement on the issue late in the evening.
