MARGAO: Margao Municipal Council (MMC) Councillor Sadanand Naik vehemently denied allegations of assault against municipal engineer Vinay Desai, dismissing the complaint filed by Chief Officer (CO) Melvyn Vaz against him before the Margao Police as a ‘misrepresentation of events’.

Speaking to reporters, Naik refuted the allegations that he had assaulted the engineer in the CO’s chamber. He claimed that he was merely questioning the engineer about some files and inspections that the engineer had recently conducted in the Housing Board ward.
Sadanand’s wife, Babita, who serves as MMC Vice-Chairperson, supported his version of events, stating that her husband was innocent, and calling the complaint baseless . Babita alleged that this was an attempt to defame her husband’s reputation as the senior-most councillor.
