MARGAO: Taking serious note of illegal business activities near South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA) wholesale fish market and nearby areas in Fatorda, the Margao Municipal Council on Saturday conducted a drive, and attached goods worth thousands of rupees.

A team of MMC along with Chairperson Lyndon Pereira and Councillor Francis Jonas warned the vendors engaged in illegal business activities in Fatorda of strict action.
It is pertinent to note that people are complaining about the illegal business activities near the wholesale fish market, and several other places in Fatorda Constituency. Roads leading towards Seraulim at the wholesale fish market have become a mini-market, and no timely action from the civic body has further given free hand to these vendors to carry out their illegal businesses.
All the vendors doing business by the roadside were asked to move from the site. Fruits, vegetables and other goods were also attached by the team of MMC.
“Yes, we have taken strict action against the vendors engaged in illegal business by the roadside at the wholesale fish market. At the same time, beggars creating nuisance at the old market circle were driven away from the site,” said the Chairperson.
He also said that action was also taken against the vendors at the Opinion Poll Square. The fish carrying vehicles parked on both sides of the roads have also resulted in major traffic problems near the market.
