The decision was taken at the Council meeting, on Friday.
The MMC has also resolved to simplify the procedures of issuing occupancy certificates and construction licences to reduce burden on the people and prevent harassment to them. The MMC is also contemplating on declaring pay parking zones in Margao town.
The MMC discussed and resolved to call for registering the un-assessed houses in Margao by advertising it on newspapers.
“The MMC is planning to give all the illegal and un-assessed houses a registration number so that they are assessed under the sanitation fees in the future. The idea is that the people come forward and apply for assessment so that revenue comes into the MMC,” MMC Chairperson Babita Angle said.
However, she also clarified that the registration is not to be treated as legalisation of the structures.
The MMC plans to give clearances to single dwelling units and construction of compound walls in 48 hours and has planned to implement the same by July 1.
“The Chief Officer has promised us of forming the guidelines soon and after taking suggestions from technical and other experts of the city, we will get the ball rolling” told Chairperson.
