A notice in this regard would also be issued by the municipality shortly.
“Today we saw a portion of eaves (chajja) had collapsed in our old municipal market. Luckily no one was injured in the incident. We have several unsafe buildings in Vasco and there is urgent need to pay attention to such unsafe buildings.
As there is fear and threat to lives of the people staying in such unsafe buildings I have already decided to issue them final notice asking the occupants as to why Municipality should not seal their premises,” Fernandes said.
He further added that “Our per our technical section report, we have identified 38 building/Structures which are in dilapidated conditions and are unsafe for human habitation. Technical section report also states that the condition of these 38 buildings/structures is not in good condition and might collapse in another two to three years. We have already decided to issue notices to all the occupants of unsafe buildings to file their reply in the matter as to why their buildings should be sealed.
They have to file reply within three days time failing which I will start the process to seal their premises for their own safety,” he told
