MAPUSA: The Mapusa Municipal Council on Friday issued advisory to the residents of Mapusa town on the guidelines to be followed for celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi.
The advisory states that Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandals and individuals installing Ganesh idols should take full responsibility and adhere to the government guidelines by taking necessary safety and precautionary measures to stop the spread of corona virus.
The MMC also made it compulsory for everyone to use masks, face shields and to maintain social distancing during the festival.
The Council has also decided to undertake sanitisation of Sarvajanik Ganesh pandals everyday and banned installing of temporary stalls for sale of flowers, prasad and lotteries in the vicinity of the pandal and adjoining road.
It also stated that Tar River and artificial pond at Dev Bodgeshwar will be used for immersion of Ganesh idols and appealed to the people to use wells or artificial tanks for immersion of idols at home.
The advisory also states that not more than two people from a household will be allowed at Ganesh immersion spots and advised to avoid common procession of domestic idols from housing societies or groups of houses.
It further stated that children and elderly persons should not visit the immersion site and “arti” and bursting of fire crackers will not be allowed at the “visarjan spot” or along the roadside while carrying the idol for immersion.
Meanwhile, the MMC have set time slots for immersion of idols according to the wards. From 4 pm to 6 pm — Sarvajanik Ganesh idols, 6 pm to 7 pm Angod, Ansabhat, Feira Alta, Morod, Feira Baixa and Keni Wado; 7 pm to 8 pm for Khorlim, 8 pm to 9 pm Alto Duler, Duler, Ganeshpuri, Altinho, Dattawadi, Ektanagar and Laxmi Nagar; 9 pm to 10 pm for Caraswado, Shetye wado, Peddem and Gausawado.
Meanwhile, the MMC has also set location to set up Matoli Bazaar at four different spots of municipal jurisdiction such as Cunchelim near Saibaba Temple, Sim Khorlim, Lohiya Garden and Karaswada near Bandekar Petrol Pump.
