MMC marks success of NULM project with rally

VASCO: The Mormugao Municipal Council held a rally to mark the success of the exercises undertaken under the National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM). The MMC has successfully trained at least 2,000 women in various courses under the NULM. 
The MMC has completed training of at least 2000 women in skill training beneficiary categories. Computers, beauty culture, fashion designing, catering and other courses were provided to the women. The women got their certificates and sewing machines on Friday. The certificates are valid throughout the country. 
At least 215 self help groups have been given Rs 10,000 as revolving funds. City level federations of Self Help groups have also been made which is going to help them start their own ventures. As a special move, NULM has decided to partner with the MMC on its Centenary year and will be getting an opportunity to have food festival. 
Chairperson of MMC Kritesh Naik Gaonkar and other dignitaries handed the certificates and sewing machines to the beneficiaries. 
Councillor Lavina D’Sousa has urged the women of Vasco to take more benefit of the schemes.
