MARGAO: The Margao Municipal Council on Thursday once again inspected the area under its jurisdiction for use of plastic carry bags and booked 26 cases while also identifying three cases to be charge sheeted.
Abhay Rane and his team registered only four cases in Comba, Old Market up to Holy Spirit Church but levied fines amounting to Rs 20,000 meaning they levied the highest fine of Rs 5000 per case.
Viraj Arabekar and his team that inspected SGPDA market right up to Gomant Vidya Niketan booked nine cases and the fines levied by them were Rs 16,000.
The team led by Hasina and Seema both levied fines of Rs 7,000 each but while Hasina team booked 6 cases, Seema’s team booked 7 cases.
In all, the teams collected Rs 43,000 as fine.
One person from Fatorda area and two from Margao area are likely to be charge sheeted as they had till date not paid the fine levied earlier when they were found giving away plastic carry bags.
