MARGAO: Convener of Shadow Council for Margao has slammed the Margao Municipal Council for failure to monitor the fair erected on either sides of the road leading to KTC bus stand in view of the Feast of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception.
“It is nine days now since the feast was celebrated and the fair is still there causing undue hardships to people specially motorists who have to also adhere to the traffic signals,” he said.
He said chaos and confusion prevails in the area and traffic congestion is the order of the day and blamed the MMC for this sorry state of affairs.
He also lamented that compared to previous years, MMC has earned lesser amount this year even though there were more stalls and for a longer period of time and warned that a bigger task of cleaning the waste left behind by the stall owners will arise next.
MMC Chairperson Pooja Naik who had assured yesterday that the fair would be dismantled today was not contactable as her mobile was switched off.
