An inspection of the ground was carried out by MMC Chairperson Arthur D’Silva, along with the MMC engineer and officials, the Margao police and traffic inspectors.
“We received complaints that the ground has been ill-maintained and have also received communication from the freedom fighters that the ground deserves to be looked after properly. We respect the history associated with this place and we took stock of all that was required to be done,” said D’Silva.
He further said that funds were not an issue and that the walls would be repainted and the stage repaired, among other renovation works. He also stated that care would be taken with regard to the statue of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia, as the name on it had faded.
