MAPUSA: The 65-year-old Portuguese era bridge on river Tar at Mapusa to get new life soon.
During the ordinary meeting held by the Mapusa Municipal Council, Chairperson Rohan Kavlekar moved a resolution for repairing the Tar Bridge on temporary basis and construction of parallel road under GSUDA for smooth traffic flow.
The councillors on this suggested that instead of constricting new bypass road through Morod Mapusa, PWD should go for a parallel road close to the existing road. Kavlekar passed resolution to write to PWD to work on the same as soon as possible.
Council postponed the decision on fixation of rent of Hindustan petroleum pump located at taxi stand Mapusa till next meeting. The company is due to pay Rs 35 lakh to Mapusa Municipality and has suggested that they would pay of the amount through CSR activity. But the council found it important to have proper discussion with the company and decided to take decision on this in next council meeting.
Councils also took a resolution to write to Director of Municipal Administration (DMA) to make the post of accounts cum administration on regular basis since the post was filled in the year 2014 and the period is getting over in September 2017 but with the work load, the council decided to make the post regular basis & write same to DMA.
Councillors in this meeting also took resolution to forward it to Urban Development Department to have common cadre for the workers of Mapusa Municipal Council who have completed five years and more excluding the post of drivers, sweepers and supervisors.
The council held back the decision on transfer and resale of shops. The municipality has received around 14 applications for transfer of shop in blood relation. Council decided that they will first inspect the 14 shops and then take a decision.
