VASCO: A watchman attached to the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) was placed under suspension immediately for hoisting the National flag upside down on the flag post in front of the municipal building, on Monday morning.
It is learnt that the Tricolour was hoisted the wrong way by a labourer working with the municipality but the watchman on duty was held responsible and was suspended for failing to take cognisance of the incident.
Some of the people who noticed the National flag hoisted upside down informed the Vasco Police. The matter was also referred to the Mormugao Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) for necessary action.
This is the second incident of the National flag being hoisted upside town. The first was about four years ago when a police constable had hoisted the National flag upside down outside the Vasco Deputy Collector’s office.
