The Municipal employees under the banner of Goa Municipal Employees Association had a meeting in the municipal garden on Tuesday noon after the Chief Officer issued show cause notices to two employees for raising slogans during the commotion outside the municipal building while on duty.
Even as the Chief Officer has asked Union leader Anil Shirodkar and sanitary inspector Viraj Arabekar to explain to the show cause within 24 hours, the employees met around noon to take stock of the situation and to chalk out their plan of action.
“The Chief Officer is meting out harassment to the staff and employees. No doubt, he is an IAS officer, but he does not respect the sub ordinate officers. Employees feel harassed and tensed up to work in the Civic body,” Anil said, while asserting that the employees will no longer tolerate any harassment and will strike work if the harassment continues.
