VASCO: Amongst the many things that have been affected by the COVID pandemic, is the reading room at the Mourmugao Municipal Council (MMC)
The space at the library room that used to cater to the residents of Mormugao has been abandoned since the pandemic. It was closed as a precautionary measure.
Usually the reading tables had a lot of newspapers on it, but recently many of the regulars, who visited the reading room returned disappointed after seeing the reading tables without a single newspaper. They were upset that they have been deprived of this facility at the MMC library.
Some of them said, “MMC should start displaying newspapers here again as the misconception of COVID spreading via paper has vanished.”
Another person who had come to renew his govt scheme in the Mamlatdar office said “During the rush and long queues in this govt office, the reading room was a savior for many,” he added.
MMC Chairperson Nandadeep Raut confirmed that the activity had been stopped due to COVID.
