PERNEM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday informed that mobile bio-digester toilets will be installed in all villages of Pernem taluka.
Addressing a gathering, the Chief Minister said, “Goa is a developing state and by not declaring it as ODF isn’t fair. There are several States in India where there are 100 houses but only one toilet, still they have declared their State as ODF. However, in Goa, 99 people will have toilets and the one person without the facility, will be the migrant, who has just arrived”.
Sawant said, “Those people who have no toilets at present, will be given mobile bio-digester toilets as temporary provision to declare State ODF by August 31. However, by declaring Goa ODF doesn’t mean that people will not get toilets in future. People can apply for permanent toilets even when the State will be declared as ODF and in the next two months everyone will have toilets. Since Pernem locals are facing problems with regards to land for construction of toilet as landlords are not issuing NOCs, bio-digester toilets will be installed for them”.
