MARGAO: City-based dentist Dr Hubert Gomes, who had joined the BJP with much fanfare over a year ago, has severed all ties with the party since last year when the party anointed Narendra Modi as the BJP campaign manager in June last.
When Herald contacted, Dr Gomes on his association with the BJP, he said he was uncomfortable in the BJP when the national party took the decision at its meeting in Goa last year. “I was feeling uncomfortable with the idea of Narendra Modi taking over as the Country’s Prime Minister,” he said, adding that he decided to quit politics influenced by the writings of Gujarat-based Jesuit Priest, Fr Cedric Prakash. “I read a lot of articles written by Fr Cedric. In fact, his articles influenced me to take a call that Modi is not acceptable to me as the Prime Minister”, Dr Gomes said.
