At a meeting attended by over 600 supporters at Vasco on Saturday, RSS chief and BBSM activist Subhash Velingkar said the BJP government has betrayed them. He claimed that BJP not only failed to safeguard the State’s mother tongue Konkani but also failed to fulfill its promise to make Konkani the MoI. He said BBSM will reveal who they will support in the 2017 polls on October 2, 2016. “Our ultimatum to the government ended in June and we have now decided to reveal the alternative to the BJP on October 2. BBSM has decided not to support Congress as it was Congress that started giving grants to English medium schools and Aam Admi Party has claimed they will continue giving grants to English medium schools,” Velingkar said.
He added, “In the last four year of BJP rule former Goa Chief Minister and present Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar only lied to us. It was due to active participation of BBSM that BJP came to power. We now want to make people of Goa aware of all the fake promises made by BJP.”
He said that 30,000 people have enrolled with BBSM and by September over 2 lakh people would join the manch. Nitin Desai, Swati Kerkar, Ratnakar Lele, Prof Madhav Kamat, Pandurang Nadkarni, Arvind Bhatikar and others addressed the meeting.
