SCM has stated that the cleaning work presently underway is an “eyewash” and that the group will highlight the same to all villages along the River Sal.
“The panchayats, under whose jurisdiction the River Sal passes through, have issued NOCs for the cleaning with genuine hopes that this ‘lifeline of Salcete’ regains its lost glory. But sadly, they will very soon realise that they are being taken for a ride. We call upon all concerned people to join the dharna and support the cause for the meaningful development of River Sal,” said Savio Coutinho of SCM.
