PONDA: The majestic Dudhsagar Falls, which cascades from a height of around 100 ft in the Western Ghats lining the Goa-Karnataka border, is now flowing in full force, thanks to the copious amount of rain the state has received this week.
It was a popular halting point along the South Western Railways route, with many tourists thronging there to take in the spectacular sights and sounds of the waterfall.

However, due to safety reasons, particularly during the monsoon, trains passing by Dudhsagar Falls now only slow down to allow passengers enough time to see the waterfall from within their bogies.
None can visit the waterfall during the monsoon owing to inclement weather and strong currents in the river that the Dudhsagar feeds.
The tourist season here begins in October and ends in the month of May during which time around 431 all-terrain vehicles take visitors to and from the waterfall.
Trekking in an area near the waterfall, however, is permitted during the rains. The Goa Forest Department is expected to declare the date from which such activity will be allowed in the next few days.
Downpours over the last three-four days have also rejuvenated small waterfalls at villages in Ponda and Dharbandora.
