Monsoon session to begin on July 11

State Budget 2022-23, tabled on March 30, will be passed

PANJIM: The Goa Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai on Thursday summoned the monsoon session of the State Legislative Assembly from July 11. While the business of the House is not been finalised, the session will be a month-long.

“The Governor of Goa has summoned the Legislative Assembly of the State of Goa, to meet at Assembly Hall, on July 11, 2022 at 11.30 am,” the Legislative Assembly said.

The State Budget 2022-23, which was tabled on March 30, will be passed during the monsoon session.  The session could also see the election of a new deputy Speaker, with the BJP MLA Subhash Phal Desai, who was the deputy speaker when the session was convened last, now being appointed as the Social Welfare Minister.

Meanwhile, since 19 out of the 40 MLAs are first-timers, special training sessions, on the functioning of the House, was organised for them on June 7-8. The training was imparted by Pune-based Rambhau M. Prabhodini.
