PANJIM: Goa Forest Department on Monday commenced its month-long survey to count all the tigers in the State’s wild.
All India Tiger Estimation (AITE) – 2022 for Goa will be carried out in three phases.
The forest department informed that as part of the census, it has commenced the phase I, wherein we have started Carnivore sign survey across all the protected areas- Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary, Bhagwan Mahavir National Park & Wildlife Sanctuary, Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary, Cotigoa Wildlife Sanctuary and Bondla Wildlife sanctuary as per the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) guidelines.
In the second phase, scientific study of GIS map will be done and in the third phase photographs of tiger will be taken by placing camera traps.
