PANJIM: Condemning the bidding process of the proposed international airport at Mopa, Goans for Dabolim Only (GFDO) has called project as a land scam in which lakhs of square meters property has been gifted to the promoters by Goa government.
Addressing a press conference in Panjim, Fr Erimito Rebello said that the BJP government has ruled only for the capitalists and not for the common people of Goa.
“In last 4.5 years of the BJP regime in Goa, the government has been the architect of the wholesale and systematic destruction of Goa with its totally arbitrary and lackadaisical functioning,” Fr Erimito said.
Sidharth Karapurkar, a member of GFDO, said that his group has already filed three cases in courts, including two in National Green Tribunal and one in the Supreme Court of India.
“We have filed cases in NGT as there was no study done on the environmental impact; and the case filed in Supreme Court deals with the faulty process of land acquisition,” Karapurkar added.
