PERNEM: The brawl at two restaurants at Morjim during the New Year’s party has evoked sharp reaction from locals in Morjim, with the sarpanch demanding a detailed probe into the incident.
“The incident has tarnished the reputation of Morjim village. Many persons from Delhi and Russia are operating in our village and they could pose a threat to the locals. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar should look into this matter and should order an inquiry into the incident at Club Fresh at Gawdewada Morjim,” said Morjim Sarpanch Dhananjai Shetgaonkar. President of Morjim Ekvat Samiti Vasant Shetgaokar also criticised some persons who are taking law into their hands.
“They are violating the peace in our village. The government should initiate strict action against those involved in the shooting incident at Morjim Beach,” said Shetgaonkar.
Meanwhile, Pernem Police Inspector Tushar Lotlikar said the Pernem Police has recorded the statements of some persons regarding the incident at Morjim on New Year’s party. Stating that investigations are in progress, PI Lotlikar declined to give further details but stated that the information would “be given at the right time.
