Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) during its special meeting on Friday will deliberate on the issue of cutting of an eight-decade-old Ashoka tree and erection of hoarding in Vasco.
The special council meeting has been called by MMC Chairperson Shekhar Khadapkar, as cutting down the tree had put MMC in an embarrassing position after it issued license to erect the hoarding despite knowing that the tree has been cut down to place the hoarding on Colaco building.
After the issue was raised, MMC Chairperson Khadapkar agreed that the council will revoke the license issued to erect the hoarding.
The council will also discuss on commencement of pre-monsoon work, cleaning of wells in municipal wards, decide on organising summer festival at Baina beach and outsourcing of re-assessment of houses and house tax work.
