Motorcycle-borne garbage dumpers caught red handed

It was hasty retreat for two persons who came on a motorcycle to throw garbage by the roadside, but were forced to carry it back to the shack from where the garbage had originated.
On Monday night, two persons on a motorcycle were noticed by passing motorists throwing a cement bag containing waste by the roadside.
While other motorists went on their way apparently thinking it to be usual incident people encounter during tourist season, the persons were confronted by two passing scribes, including this correspondent, who noted the incident while driving back to village on Monday night.
The culprits were told to take back the garbage bag which was thrown in the thick vegetation across the Agonda-Canacona road near Agondeshwar Temple.
When the motorcycle number and their names were noted, calls to inform police were tried before the youth agreed to take back the wastage.
However, both the youth pleaded not to report the matter to police and immediately picked up the bag. The duo also pleaded not to click their photographs and was allowed to go back after the culprits promised not to repeat such practices in future.
When questioned, the duo also revealed the name of the shack restaurant and the owner on Agonda coast from where the waste was brought for dumping on the Agonda-Canacona roadside.
Both the motorcyclists were told to carry the waste back to where it was brought and dispose it there properly.
Without wasting time, the duo carrying the waste-filled bag, who but began to proceed towards Canacona side, were told to return back to Agonda.
Incidentally, a number of permanent and seasonal restaurants in Agonda, Khola and even some parts of municipal coast resort to such dumping of garbage along the entire Agonda-Canacona roadside, virtually turning this road into foul smelling zone to the motorists.
