A motorcyclist was killed in a mishap near the Bodgeshwar temple in Mapusa on Tuesday morning.
According to Mapusa Police, at the time of accident Vasudev Ramesh Ayiar (23) was proceeding from Mapusa towards Panjim on a motorcycle (GA-07-H-6382), while a bus (GA-01-X-0424) was proceeding in the opposite direction.
The bus driver informed the police that Ayiar tried to overtake a car in front when he lost control of the motorcycle and fell off the vehicle. He sustained grievous head injuries in the mishap.
His helmet flew off and hit the rear portion of the bus, claimed the driver. He was lying in an unconscious state for quiet some time, before he was shifted to Goa Medical College Hospital at Bambolim for treatment. He was, however, declared brought dead.
Police Sub-Inspector Yubhanker is investigating the incident.
