MAPUSA: A woman from Ullasnagar, Mumbai was raped by a resident of Andheri, Mumbai in a resort at Calangute. The accuse Rajesh Hassanandani has been absconding after committing the crime.
According to sources, a resident of Ulhasnagar filed a rape complaint against forty-seven-year-old Hassanandani, alleging that the accused raped her in a hotel room at Calangute, after giving her sleeping pills.
Sources informed that the victim and the accused had come down to Goa for a holiday and when they were in the hotel room of a resort in Calangute the accused raped her and also attempted to kill her by cutting her wrist.
Sources said the couple was in a relationship for the past two years and the accused was forcing the victim to marry him, but since the lady was already married she refused to give in to his demands.
The accused then convinced her that if they could not get married they should commit suicide and subsequently brought her to Goa, where he forced her to take sleeping pills and then raped her and even cut her wrist.
After the incident, and before the lady could file a complaint, the accused is said to have escaped to Dubai.
Sources also informed that the accused had taken cash amounting Rs 11 lakh from the victim for business purpose, but had returned only Rs 6.50 lakh.
Calangute police have registered the crime under Section 376, 328, 307 and 394 of IPC. Calangute police have also issued a look-out notice against Hassanandani.
