Vasco: The Congress leader from Mormugao Sankalp Amonkar has accused Power Minister Milind Naik for misusing government machinery to motivate the voters by promising jobs. He also charged that Naik as the chairman of Ravindra Bhawan at Baina has been conducting voters meetings in his office at Ravindra Bhawan, similarly the office at PWD quarters at Sada, and other government offices is been used which is in clear violation of the  code of conduct.
Amonkar also charged that Naik has been using official vehicle at night and inspite  of several complaints made to Election Observer Venancio Furtado on his mobile phone, not a single call has been attended to by the general observer for Mormugao municipality. “It is astonishing that the Minister and Naik has been violating the  election code of conduct and there is no one to hear the complaints. Even there is no response to the cell phone number provided to lodge poll code violation complaints. We have been complaining about distribution of rice by candidates. He is asking voters to vote for candidates supported by him and only then he would sign the life certificate used to avail DSS schemes, but not a single complaint has been looked into” Amonkar charged that “As there have been complaints from people that MLA has been pressuring voters to vote for his candidates, I demand that the government should extend the submission of life certificate for DSS scheme till November 30 from October 30,” he said.
Naik, refuted the allegations and said that “I am chairman of Ravindra Bhawan and am therefore having meetings on programmes and events but having voters meetings is out of the question. Secondly if someone says that I have been misusing govt vehicles at night for canvassing  then they should bring the proof as even this allegations is baseless.
Thirdly it is true that my people are calling the voters but they are calling them to request them and not to pressurize them” Naik told Herald.
