Muslim Forum wants slum dwellers rehabilitated

Goa Muslim Forum has called for an amicable solution and a rehabilitation package for Moti Dongor and other slum dwellers on humanitarian grounds.

MARGAOGoa Muslim Forum has called for an amicable solution and a rehabilitation package for Moti Dongor and other slum dwellers on humanitarian grounds.

President of the Forum Shaikh Iftikar has said that the CM has assured to visit Moti Dongor and has promised to come out with a rehabilitation package to the displace people of Moti Dongor within a year.

The Chief Minister also assured the delegation that he will implement Prime Minister’s 15-point minority empowerment program soon and constitute minority Finance and Development Corporation before February 28.

He told the delegation that the file pertaining to the minority commission is under process, while reassuring the government commitment’s to solve the long pending issue of burial grounds for the Muslim community.

Iftikar said the delegation apprised the Chief Minister of the long pending issues of Muslims of Goa, which included an Urdu Academy in Goa. “We impressed upon the Chief Minister that the Urdu Academy in Goa will help impart impart training to Urdu teachers in Goa itself and also facilitate development of Urdu language”, he said, adding that he would provide laptops to Urdu higher secondary students.

The GMF delegation comprised of its president Shaikh Ifitkar, general secretary Shaikh Hassan Mansoor, Vice-presidents Firoz Khan, Kadar Shah,  Treasurer Ali Shaikh and executive members Riyaz Beig, Niyazi, Haroon Shah, Jaffer Saab, Kamaluddin, Parvez, Rashid, Nasir, Sharif & Fariyaz.
