PANJIM: The North District Magistrate has extended the ban on the entry of Sri Ram Sene Chief Pramod Muthalik into Goa by 60 days with effect from June 30. The order issued on Friday also bans all his associates and other SRS members from entering Goa during this period.
The order has been issued under section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, 1973. “The step has been taken to prevent every possibility of disturbance to law and order and danger to public safety due to their aggressive statements or speeches that could hurt the sentiments of certain groups of the public and instigate violence, thus adversely affecting public peace and tranquility,” states the order. The renewed ban comes every 60 days.
The Goa Suraksha Manch had recently stirred controversy after their demand to lift the ban on Muthalik and his associates while also demanding to withdraw the ban.
