ALDONA: Nachinola deputy sarpanch Freddy Fernandes was allegedly assaulted by a panch during a scuffle in the panchayat office on Monday evening.
Mapusa police sources informed that there was a verbal argument between the deputy sarpanch and the panch. The panch was asked to stay away and warned against interfering in matters related to another ward. In a fit of anger, the panch assaulted Freddy with a chair. Freddy was rushed to the Primary Health Centre at Aldona and was later discharged.
Mapusa Police registered an offence against the accused under Sections 504, 341 and 324 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
