VASCO: Despite strong opposition from the Urban Development Minister Milind Naik and Headland Sada residents, the pumping of naphtha from Nu-Shi Nalini vessel into Ganesh Benzoplast Ltd containers at Bogda was completed on Sunday at around 11 am, MPT sources confirmed.
Sources informed that after the pumping operation, the vessel was shifted from Berth No 8 to Berth No 9.
It may be recalled that on Thursday, the authorities claimed that around 500 metric tonnes of naphtha was pumped into GBL tanks. Later, Milind Naik along with some locals tried to stop the naphtha pumping operations citing safety concerns.
The South Goa Collector Ajit Roy had inspected the GBL facility twice and had stopped the pumping of naphtha. He had issued show cause notice to MPT but in a latest development, MPT sources confirmed that entire naphtha of around 2300 metric tonnes was pumped into the containers at GBL facility.
