Colvale police have made significant strides in combating narcotics trafficking with the arrest of two individuals in a late-night operation on October 20, 2023. Acting on intelligence and credible information, the police conducted a narcotic raid at Ganesh Nagar, Colvale, which resulted in the apprehension of two accused persons.
The suspects, identified as Amit Kumar Sonkar, a 21-year-old resident of Ganesh Nagar, Colvale, and Dinesh, aged 27, hailing from Khadpawada, Cuchelim Bardez, were taken into custody. The police seized a substantial amount of contraband during the operation, confiscating 1,500 kgs of Ganja with an estimated value of Rs. 1,50,000. Additionally, law enforcement officers impounded a Dio scooter bearing registration number GA-03-AN-1101, along with two mobile phones, one Redmi and the other Vivo.

In connection with this incident, the Colvale Police Station has filed a First Information Report (FIR) under section 20(b)(ii)(B) r/w 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Both suspects are presently in police custody as the investigation continues.
This successful operation marks another step in the ongoing efforts to combat narcotics-related activities in the region.
